Coromandel: The Mussel Kitchen

0

It was on a recent rained-out camping trip, that we decided to pull into the Coromandel Mussel Kitchen on the outskirts of the township. We are very glad we did.

The restaurant is bright and lively, and on this day – bustling with customers. You cannot help but notice the smart roadside signage. This continues inside with modern graphic and interior design. The setting is beautiful with a large manicured front lawn that hosts various events such as the Coromandel Mussel Festival – Waitangi Weekend, February 6th.

After a well earned Flat White each, we both went for the Mussel Fritter Stack served with salad. This was truly delicious. The serving size was very generous and more than enough to fuel a car ride home.

The Mussel Kitchen is also home to the MK Brewery Co. – distinctive brews created onsite. We loved the label designs on these. A great gift for the craft beer lover in the family this Christmas?

The meal prices were very affordable. All-in-all we loved visiting this restaurant. We will definitely include it in our places to stop on our next Coromandel camping adventure.
