Lake Rotoehu: Discover The Barefoot Lodge

1

The Barefoot Lodge is a totally unique property in a beautiful bush setting on the edge of Lake Rotoehu.  Relax and unwind on the massive wrap-around deck offering expansive views, while the kids play and enjoy some of the endless activities.

The Barefoot Lodge was built by some very good friends of ours – Anthony and Rachelle Hawes. Anthony is an extremely talented barefoot water-skiier, hence the name. I was lucky enough to stay there this past summer and experience what I believe is one of the most spectacular and private locations here in New Zealand. You can experience the lodge yourselves by booking online at Bookabach. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Accommodation

Walk straight off the deck and down the steps to the wood-fired spa pool and lake.  Swimming, kayaking, fishing, boating and bush walking are on your doorstep.  Explore the quiet and peaceful arms of Lake Rotoehu, or continue down into the main lake for waterskiing and jetskiing.

The Barefoot Lodge is perfectly positioned overlooking the lake, in a clear open space to make the most of the all-day sun and stunning lake and bush views.  There is plenty of lawn and space around the house for games and fun.  All bedrooms are sunny with either bush or lake views.

Brand new in 2015, the Lodge has the latest in warmth to keep you toastie on cold nights.  An open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area with indoor outdoor flow and an awesome bar opening out onto the spacious deck make entertaining and relaxing easy.

What to do in the area

The Barefoot Lodge is just a short drive through beautiful forest to great coffee and food at the Rotoma Roadhouse Café Restaurant and Okere Falls Store. The store is open 7 days, 7am – 7pm. There is also a Beer Garden which is open Friday and Saturday till 8:30pm.

Rotorua is less than an hours drive away and offers endless fun and activities for everyone. See rotoruanz.com for more information on what to do in Rotorua.
